2006 National Railroad Historical Society Convention

Diesel Powered Excursion Trains

I had the chance to attend my first NRHS national convention. It was held in New Philadelphia, Ohio.  The convention was well attended and well organized.  The excursion trains ran well and on time.  Below are some shots from the various Diesel powered excursion train run during the Convention.

Photos taken on July 19, 2006 with Excursion Train on the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad running from Brecksville, southern Cleveland, OH to Canton, OH  through the Cuyahoga Valley National Park

A pair of Alco FPA's led the train southbound out of Brecksville, OH.  Through Cuyahoga Valley National Park
While still in the National Park we were privileged to share in a pair of Photo Run-bys with the Excursion train.  Also the Cuyahoga Valley's pride and joy brings up the rear of the train, a true observation car.
A special treat was the "regular" train that followed the NRHS excursion.  It was powered by a beautiful CNW Alco and several RDC cars.  Plus another Alco on the rear.
A couple of final shots of the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad NRHS Excursion train as it is headed southbound from Brecksville to Canton, OH.
After following the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad we headed up to Berea, OH to check out some Class I railroad action.
