Detour Trains in 2008

The year of 2008 is starting to become the Year of the Detours.  Due to rains and flooding in early May the DME/ICE was forced to detour trains over the Canadian Pacific through Milwaukee. 

Then due to torrential rains in Southern Wisconsin that literally put the Canadian Pacific Railroad under over 2 feet over in the Reeseville area the CP has been forced to detour trains.  Several trains detour over the IC&E.  Some have also detoured over the Wisconsin & Southern Railroad.  Also since CP is the host railroad for Amtrak, Amtrak has been forced to detour its "Empire Builders" onto the Union Pacific from Chicago to Tunnel City, WI.  Running through Milwaukee on former Chicago & Northwestern tracks once home to the "400's"

June 2008

First day of Amtrak Detours on UP Adams Sub  Amtrak #8 Eastbound at Clyman Jct, WI under the coaling tower.  Meets W/B UP train and W/B Train under coaling tower.  June 27, 2008
June 27, 2008  Amtrak #7 Westbound at Lake Five Road in Merton, WI.  On the old route of the "400's". 
June 28, 2008  Amtrak #8 detours eastbound on the UP (former CNW) tracks in St Francis, WI just south of St Francis Ave.  With private car "Georgia" on the rear.
