Amtrak #8 Empire Builder Detours over Canadian National

Due to the Kinnickinnic River bridge in Milwaukee, WI being completely out of service, on Saturday December 10, 2005 Amtrak's Empire Builder had to detour over the Canadian National (former Wisconsin Central)from Duplainville (just west of Milwaukee) down to Fox Lake, IL.

All the photos below were taken at Duplainville, WI.  The first couple were taken of a northbound CN train north of the diamond with CP.  Notice the interesting numberboard on the WC painted SD45.

The remainder of the photos were taken of Amtrak #8 as it arrived at Duplainville.  Then it had to back onto the CN tracks.  The Empire Builder also had to wait a couple of minutes to allow a northbound CN train to clear.
