Pere Marquette #1225

The Pere Marquette #1225 is a 2-8-4 Berkshire locomotive.  This locomotive had the rare opportunity to be the inspiraiton and provide the sound for the steam locomotive in the animated movie "The Polar Express".  The big Berk looked good when it ran this summer pulling an excursion for the NRHS Bluewater Chapter on Saturday July 21, 2007 and then an enxcursion train for the National Model Railroad Association (NMRA) National Convention in Detroit, MI on Sunday July 22, 2007.  These trips were run from Owosso, MI to Clare, MI on Saturday and to Alma on Sunday.  The weather was great both days and the #1225 never looked better.  Especially since this was my first chance to see the "Big Berk" run.
