Rock River Thresheree
September 2006
Edgerton, WI

On Saturday September 2, 2006 I visited the 50th Anniversary Rock River Thresheree at Edgerton, WI.  The weather was perfect and there was plenty of action on the grounds.  There were plenty of steam traction engines in attendance.  The German made 2ft gauge steam locomotive made numerous trips around the grounds.

One of the highlights is plowing by the tractors.  An Advance-Rumley pulled a 6-bottom plow.   A Case steam engine gracefully pulled a 12-bottom plow.  Threshing was also a constant display.  The Sawmill and Blacksmith shop were also popular displays.  A new attraction was "House" pulling, not horse pulling.  A Sears Craftsman house was pulled around the grounds like a house would have been moved in the early 1900's.   Also the Steam Pile Driver is very impressive.

There was a tragic mishap during the Parade of Power.  An Advance-Rumley steam engine was having trouble moving forward in the parade staging area.  After several attempts just as the engine moved forward the front steering spindle gave way and the front axle broke and the front end of the engine went into the ground.  Luckily no one was hurt and the boiler stay intact.  The area was closed off and the steam was blown off and the fire was out down and the boiler was allowed to cool down.

Below are some photos from the Thresheree.  Enjoy the Photos
