Special Trains and Excursion Information 

I will try and keep this page updated with information about Steam Excursions and Special Trains that may be running in the Wisconsin area and elsewhere if I find out about them.  WARNING: These excursions can be cancelled or have schedules adjusted at anytime prior to the trip. I am not responsible for last minute changes to a schedule or motive power used to pull a train. 

Also railfan responsibly.  Don't trespass on RR property.  Also be aware of others around you when you taking pictures, I doubt that anyone else wants you in their pictures.  SO BE CAREFUL !!! and HAVE FUN !!!

The Pere Marquette #1225 2-8-4 Berkshire has the honor of being the steam locomotive chosen as the sound source and animation source for the steam locomotive in the movie "The Polar Express". 
Ohio Central Railroad Steam Program features several steam locomotives including  #6325 4-8-4 Northern and #1293 4-6-2. 
Canadian Pacific Railroad   4-6-4 Hudson "The Empress"

Soo #1003 is housed and on display at Hartford Auto Museum in Hartford, WI

Soo Line #1003 will be pulling the popular Santa Trains again this year.  Below are at least two of the Santa Trains scheduled. 
November 8, 2008  - Hartford, WI Santa Train and Christmas Parade
December 12, 13 and 14, 2008  Plymouth, WI Santa Train featuring the Sargento Cheese Boxcar . On Dec 12 the #1003 will arrive in Plymouth, WI and then on the Dec 13th Santa will visit with kids all day in the Milw Road Caboose.  On Dec 14 the #1003 will back to Elkhart Lake and return to Hartford, WI.  Check it out at  Plymouth Santa Train Events
Milwaukee Road #261 is currently undergoing its 15 year rebuild.  It is hoped that the #261 will be back up and running sometime in 2009.  That depends on how things go with the rebuild.   GOOD LUCK to the #261 crew during the rebuild

Ride behind #1225 the steam locomotive that was the basis for the steam engine in "The Polar Express". 

SRI again will be running "North Pole Express Trains".  These trains run the last weekend in November and first 3 weekends in December.   Check Ticket availability at North Pole Express

December 5-6, 2008  Edgerton, WI Santa Train.  #1003 will arrive on Dec 5th in the evening.  Then Dec 6th from 7am to 12:30pm visit with Santa at the Depot   More Info  Edgerton Santa Train
