I will try and keep this page updated with information about Steam Excursions and Special Trains that may be running in the Wisconsin area and elsewhere if I find out about them. WARNING: These excursions can be cancelled or have schedules adjusted at anytime prior to the trip. I am not responsible for last minute changes to a schedule or motive power used to pull a train.
Also railfan responsibly. Don't trespass on RR property. Also be aware of others around you when you taking pictures, I doubt that anyone else wants you in their pictures. SO BE CAREFUL !!! and HAVE FUN !!!

It has been announced that the Milwaukee Road #261 will NOT BE REBUILT. It will be returned to the National Railroad Museum in Green Bay, WI. The Friends of the #261 and NRM were not able to come to an agreement on a new lease for the locomotive. This is SAD NEWS.
However the Friends of the #261 under a new name are still looking forward to bringing in guest steam locomotives to the Midwest to pull excursions. The first example was the Southern Pacific Daylight #4449 this past summer. Also the Friends have there fleet of passenger cars including the Skytop and Super Dome.
There is some talk that the Friends are looking for another locomotive to restore to operating condition. It appears that they are looking for a locomotive that would have some significance to Midwest railroad heritage.
I have put together a slide show set to music on You Tube as a rememberance to the Milwaukee Road #261 please feel free to check it out. Click Here - Milwaukee Road #261 Remembered
Pere Marquette #1225 is currently out of service. The "Polar Express" locomotive is undergoing its 15 year service rebuild.
Here is the 2010 Schedule for the UP Steam Program.
