Union Pacific #844

Union Pacific #844 has the distinction of being the only steam engine to have never been retired from active service.  #844 was never retired and then brought back to service.  In 1999 #844 suffered a major boiler problem while on display at Railfair 1999 in California.  After 6 years of rebuilding UP #844 was steamed up and repainted gloss black and was back steaming down the rails.
